Anything you remember being in charge of at a camp.
Kerosene lamps

A luxury or innovation you used at camps

The Bunker….. Paul’s home made cart which we souped up and used to race down the main internal road at Verdala.  The wheels were twisted out of shape and we had to keep taking the spokes apart, straightening them and putting everything back together.  We used to pad our battlejackets and jeans with our socks towels etc and wear Manwel 2’s motorcycle helmet!

Another particular Scouting Activity

Expo 68 …. I was on our scout stand building a balsa wood aircraft model for the modelmaking badge.
Ever got to use a lashing again?
Loads of times ….still know all the knots
Favourite Badge or Pursuit
Modelmaking …been my hobby since I was 7 or 8.5

A mishap that ended well or a call for help by a fellow scout

Yep…. A pillow fight in the Ghadira barracks.  Peter Dimech broke a front tooth ….. and Albert Galea fainted at the sight of blood!.  Must have been around Easter 1970

Remember any mess-up in communication/directions, which altered the outcome of an activity?

Remember any mess-up in communication/directions, which altered the outcome of an activity?  Yes again.  We had planned a camp at l-ahrax.  We had to lug everything from the tuck on the road to the camp site near the sea.  It was too rugged for Joe and I was unwell so we both had to leave camp.  Ultimately I believe the camp was cut short and the remaining ventures hired a boat to take the stuff back to Ghadira Bay rather than lug everything back up the hill.

Have you used your scouting skills in any occasion/s  in later life.?

Many times:  Knotting, Map reading, tent pitching…..

Any suggestion for a group ‘Scout’ activity, or group activity jointly with spouses?

Perhaps a short walk in the country …. With some interesting stopover eg:  Birdwatching or something historical followed by a picnic?
